The Baby Brezza Formula Pro is the sort of thing that seems pretty excessive before you have kids. The most common way I describe it to people is “like a fancy automatic coffee grinder/maker, but for formula”. It’s definitely high on the luxury/convenience end of things and not for everyone, but it you have the counter space, budget, patience for regular maintenance, and a formula-fed baby, I recommend trying it out. Read the rest of my Baby Brezza Formula Pro review to find out what it is, who it’s for, how it works, what issues I have had, and my verdict.
Why Should You Trust Me?
We have used our Baby Brezza Formula Pro (which I will sometimes shorten as “Baby Brezza” in this review even though they make other stuff) for nearly as long as we have had a baby to feed. I ordered it when my daughter was 10 days old and it became apparent that formula was going to be the way to go. Since then we have used it daily with brief exceptions for travel or malfunction (more on which later). By my calculations we have made over 2500 bottles of formula with it, or well over 100 gallons. My daughter is growing on her curve, so it’s clearly working well enough on that end.
What Is the Baby Brezza Formula Pro?
Who Is This For?
The most common reactions I have heard from other parents are “Why did this not exist when my kids were little?!?” or “Is it that hard to mix up some formula in a bottle?” If you are in the latter camp, well, it’s not hard, but pushing a button is a whole lot easier, especially at 3 am with a crying baby in your arms. The hardest parts of making a bottle – getting it to the right temperature and thoroughly mixing the powder without dumping it all over the counter – are handled by the Baby Brezza Formula Pro without requiring a sleepy parent to think or exhibit manual dexterity.
Other parents I have met who have a Baby Brezza (OK, just one guy on a plane) were very enthusiastic about it, asking me if I had heard of it and ready to recommend it if I hadn’t. However, there are some factors that may not make it right for everyone.
- Space: The Baby Brezza isn’t huge, but it does have a decent-sized footprint and is relatively tall for a countertop appliance. You will also need a dedicated outlet for it. It takes up roughly the same amount of space as a Ninja Coffee Maker.
- Maintenance: You need the patience and presence of mind to regularly (every 4 bottles, so about twice a day) clean up the nozzle and do a monthly deep clean of the whole system. While the Formula Pro won’t let you forget to clean it after every four bottles, there’s nothing to tell you to do the more thorough cleaning once a month.
- Budget: There are a lot of expenses that come with a newborn, and the Baby Brezza Formula Pro falls firmly in the optional category if finances are tight. While you can get it for ~$130 with the coupon available on the Baby Brezza website, that’s a month of formula. If you know you’ll be using formula, it makes for a good baby registry item.
